The tour started with a visit to an old church, Igredja Matriz de Nossa Senhora da Ajuda E Bim Sucwsso, please don't ask for a translation. I think its the old lady of the mattress. I t was quite plain and simple with a wrot iron statue of Jesus at it's base.

Saturday morning traffic there was "horrendous", given that apart from the usual weekend beach goers this is also the end of the summer holidays and of Carnival week.

But we got through eventually, and proceeded to BR 101, the Rodovia (road) Rio-Santos which runs ...
