Ilha Grande, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil sitzmana... write a very honest review of this hostel. its a new day though and the stray dogs are running around here--- they all have collars on though, weird. and i sat and ate breakfast on the ocean. i have been practicing my protuguese... 1)banana = banana 2)internacional = international 3)salteria = ice cream shop... i only know this becuase that that is where they sell bananas ...
Ilha Grande, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil sitzmana... restaurants, some craft stores and mini-markets. Everywhere we walked through town, we could hear the ocean breakers. We stayed at a nice pousada that was only R$60 (USD15) per night with our own bathroom, fridge, balcony and was a two-minute stroll to the beach. Finally, we found something relatively cheap in Brasil.

With dwindling sunshine on June 15, we quickly scampered down to the perfect sandy crescent known as Praia Rancho and basked in the sun's ...
Ilha Grande, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil chiapoe... straight away that would take us to the island. As soon as the boat left the pier I began to relax as the boat glided along past the green tropical islands on the way and I knew that we were all in for 3 days of holiday bliss. Ilha Grande is a little slice of heaven fallen to earth, one of the largest islands off the Brazilian coast it still retains a quaint friendly character and the clean and pretty wooden buildings that make up the restaurants and hotels in the town ...
Angra Dos Reis, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil jamesburford... my fellow travellers arose and we all went out for dinner having done nothing at all on our first day! Day two was spent around the main village Abraao, with Claire resting at the hostel as her sore foot had gotten hugely swollen while Anthea, Nicky and I attempted to go shopping but found that the heat was so intense that we felt to guilty to try clothes on in our sweaty states. The afternoon was spent swimming at the beach and lying on the sand, not a bad ...
Ilha Grande, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil kat_p... is really working out. My rythim of ascension is quite tough and German is kind of struggling to follow. On the other hand he prevents my rushing ass a couple of times that I took the wrong way from getting lost in the middle ...
Ilha Grande, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil captainflint... ecstatic for the company and set about introducing me to some other Westerners dotted throughout the island. Ilha Grande has been touted as having some of the best beaches in the world and I just spent the rest of the day relaxing on the sand, reading and people watching. I am booked here for a few days and over dinner agreed to attend a party boat the next day. The group of people here is a nice mix of genders, ages and nationalities and I will likely see many of them on ...
Ilha Grande, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil gazanova... banks. No cars. No wearing those stupid money belt things because we are out of Rio! The first couple of days were beautiful so we larked about on some of the many beaches and sea front. Which was amazing! However, sand is annyoing! Pffft... stupid tiny rocks, get out of my camera! When the weather wasnt so great (i mean, it was still boiling hot but not sunny) so we decided to go on one of the many organised walking trails. Think green trail ...
Ilha Grande, State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil jimanddan... trail there's a house which provides some camp spots. It's a great place, and Rossi, the manager, is a very funny guy. We set up the tent there ready for the night, but we were not very careful about the spot we chose. Around 10:00 pm a storm hit the island with very strong winds. Balance of the night: some pieces of the tent frame got broken. Well, c'est la vie! Day 3 Parnaioca The storm from the night before turned into a constant rain so we decided to ...
Angra Dos Reis, Brazil gbasilio... also very interesting - I'm not sure what he thought we were offering but eventually I resorted to drawing a picture and luckily we got a simple twin room in the end. Today, here in Angra Dos Reis we are just waiting around for our ferry, it's very much like Plymouth Barbican without Capin' Jaspers although there are a few food stalls which actually make Capin' Jaspers look like a high class restaurant.
