Historical Traveler Reviews Pousada Bambu Bamboo Paraty
Exceeded all our expectations!
Bambu Bamboo has been a most amazing experience. We have been travelling for a while and of the 48 countries we've visited, we have to say that Bambu Bamboo was the best accommodation, best priced and best service we have ever had.
We stayed there in August and had the pousada all for ourselves the first night as the place was cleared out immediately after the Literary Week at Parati. This also meant that the town was blissfully empty.
Neto, our host, just couldn't do enough for us - picking us up, dropping us off, restaurant suggestions, advice regarding outings. Every breakfasts feels like we've died and gone to food heaven. Every conceivable thing you would ever want for breakfast (and then some) is layed out beautifully. Juices were fresh squeezed, yogurt was homemade, local cheese and jelly (Romeo and Juliet) were exquisite, perfectly done soft boil eggs, endless pastries, etc.
One of the entertainment will have to be that one of Neto's dog has to be distracted whenever we cycle into town as he runs with you all the way there and will not leave you.
Parati has been most relaxing and we will definitely go back and the only place we'd consider staying is at Bambu Bamboo.
Ben, who owns this place, is amazingly helpful and friendly.
He has put together a very good value establishment that is also attractive to look at, comfy (slept like a log in the comfortable bed in the loft apartment).
The pool area is modest, but pretty. The breakfast room is excellent (very airy) -- you see the food prepared, and it is delicious.
The lounge area is classy.
Loved the dogs !
Recommended if you're staying in Parati (it's a 15 min walk into town).
Perfekte Unterkunft in Parati
Pousada Bambu Bamboo is beautifully furnished and decorated in a peaceful and attractive location next to the river looking over the mountains and surrounding forest, but it is close to the historic centre and is cheap and easy to take a taxi, walk or bike to town. The breakfast is wonderful. Ben and Neto are excellent hosts. They have extensive local knoweldge and contacts and are pleased to make arrangements for you. Neto drove us to the port to take a cruise on a schooner around the bay; arranged diving for us; got a local masseuse to come and massage us on the riverbank; arranged transport to and from the airport. Nothing was too much trouble ensuring a wonderful relaxed and happy vacation. My expectations were truly exceeded!
Wonderful tropical setting, beatufiul architecture!
Unfortunately we were only able to stay one night at this beautiful pousada, but we had a great time. The owner was exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the grounds were tropical and beautiful. The rooms were nice and cool (as I'm sure it can get very hot) and decorated in a modern style. We stayed in a garden room and it was very nice. I was suprised to find out that the hotel is 6 years old, as it looks brand new! The breakfast in the morning had tons of fresh fruit, breads, cakes, juice, tea, coffee, eggs made to order, meats, cheeses, etc.
I didn't particularly love the town of Parati, as it's very touristy. There are a lot of shops and art galleries. We ate dinner at the french restaurant the owner recommended and it was amazing- highly recommended!
If were are ever back in that area again, we would not hesitate to stay there again and I would recommend it to anyone.
I can not say enough wonderful things about Pousada Bambu Bamboo. Neto (the owner) is an amazing, wonderful host. He went out of his way to help us for the 3 nights we stayed there. Parati is a gorgeous colonial-type town, with cobble stone streets, and wonderful cafes and shops. Neto was extremely helpful with suggesting restaurants, directions for the grocery store, etc...
If I ever make it back to Parati, this is the only place I will stay.
Our stay at hte Bambu bamboo could not have been nicer. It is clean, neat, designed and decorated with variety, style and comfort in mind (i am an architect so I tend to be critical of such things)..It is located along a canal close enough from the historic center to be convienient and just far enough away to be quiet and relaxing. But the most amazing thing about the pousada is the management. They are friendly and much more than helpful - with great recomendations for places to eat, which tour boats to book, and where to shop...on top of all that when our rental car's keys were stolen they did everything they could to prevent a disaster even to the point of dealing with the agency so we could go on a previously booked cruise. 5 star ratings!...I could not give a higher recomendation.
Superb! Excellent! Wonderful! Do go!
I stayed for 3 nights at Bambu Bamboo before going down the coast to the over-hyped Pousada Picinguaba...and then returned to Bambu Bamboo as it was so wonderful. Ben and Neto (the owners) are the most lovely hosts I have ever stayed with and made me feel at home and utterly at ease from the moment I walked through the door. The Pousada is lovely - fabulous communal spaces with sofas and a movie "lounge"; gorgeous pool; excellent food and wonderful rooms. I was travelling alone, but the loft rooms would be superb for families travelling as they have lots of space and two bathrooms. Don't be put off by the Pousada being outside the historical centre - quite frankly it is more peaceful and more fun to be outside the walls - rent a bike, walk around! An absolutely superb place to stay in Paraty - don't miss it!
We spent 5 nights at Bambu Bamboo and just loved it. The owners were really very friendly and helpful at all times of the day. All the advice that was given about day trips and activities were excellent. The rooms were spacious (loft suite: beautiful mezzanine) and always kept clean. Bed linnen and towels top class. Even beach towels were spontaneously provided. Garden and swimming pool very cosy and tastefully decorated. Top class sun beds. And what a breakfast ! Just about all you could dream of... and served until 11:00. Location just 3 min. outside Parati not a problem, rather appreciable because very calm. 2 adorable dogs (even for dogphobics !). We also take advantage here to say a big thank you to Ben & Neto for making our stay here unforgettable.

Incredible Country, Incredible Stay at Pousada Bambu Bamboo
I am an American and it was my first visit to Brazil. I was very impressed, not only is the country of Brazil beautiful but so was the hotel Pousada Bambu Bamboo. It is a small but quaint hotel with a beautiful and peaceful landscape and pool. The rooms are extremely cozy. The hotel is located near a beautiful old town with wonderful restaurants and shops. The ocean is just about 15 minutes away. Breakfast was very filling. Most of all, the staff and owners were very helpful. I have never been to such a place that cared about its customers. I recommend this hotel 100%. Please feel free to E-mail me and ask me any questions. I plan on going back every year.

Hayley and I shared two giant steaks in a peppery, mushroom sauce with mashed potatoes- easily the most delicious meal we have had this trip! I leave you now to venture into my bed. The Swedish guys and I catch up and I find out that the hostel has misplaced Henrik's washing; he's not exactly having the best holiday! We go for dinner with the English lads and a few others at this great fish restaurant on the beachfront, have a walk around town and then head to bed.

My bum was too boney for that slide but Tom and Shaun gave it a go. Once a month there's a party in this town and it was tonight. As soon as we got there about 6 dogs started attacking each other, growling, biting each other's back and necks. Then Tom yells out NO DOG SHOTS! Good one Tom. A local broke it up ...

it seems almost axiomatic to say that the boat trip around the tropical island

Then, all too suddenly it was the next day and it was time
to get back on another boat – this time back to the mainland and head to Paraty.
