... bigger a la carte portions others have ordered. Oh well, nothing wrong with a first truly gourmet splurge at the age of 47.

I couldn’t help but overhear a very pretentious middle-aged man who appeared to be entertaining and trying to impress the two more reserved people he was dining with at the next table. He asked his waitress what was the French to English translation of the name of the restaurant Bocuse. I tried not to snicker, but sometimes I ...

As we approached Exit 18, I got butterflies in my stomach and my pulse began to race. Poughkeepsie was only about 20 minutes from the NY Thruway and I envisioned seeing my friends and reuniting with them, even if it was for only a few minutes. ... have been in Poughkeepsie city as opposed to Poughkeepsie town (where we were staying). The city was like a movie set after a disaster. Clearly the GFC has had a huge impact here. When we got to our room, we were able to talk about how scared we'd been. Aside from the great food, it was really scary & unlike anything we've ever experienced. The city has no parallel in Australia that we could think of. It was so rundown. We thought we could just drive around America like we do at ...

    The Beautiful town of Kent

A travel blog entry by heavenonearth on Oct 08, 2014

This was a very nice little town on the border on Connecticut and New York. It was so noce we almost stayed for the winter. The problem was that it was down in a valley so getting out of the valley with icy roads would have been a problem. During the summer there was the Houstonic River that ran along side the town. This place was beautiful during the fall. Also saw Bull's Covered Bridge. Too bad they did not have a campground ...
