... the castle, where I stop for coffee. It's very steep and my legs are feeling it. I carry on and eventually come out at tiny little lakeside town. It's a beautiful (though a bit difficult) walk with magnificent views of the lake from up high. More photos. Back down lakeside, I head back towards Varenna. I stop at Hotel Villa Cipressi for late lunch. Spaghetti with duck ragu and porcini mushrooms. ...

She says she will give me an injection, and just before she puts it in, asks if I have any allergies. I reply in the negative and away she goes.

I can't see so many olive trees though and there's a lot more grape vines. It still all looks very beautiful. Can't say for sure but the soil looks a lot more sandier than ...

... on the waterfront before the ferry home. Just when I thought the day had peaked the ferry turned out to be the Hydrofoil I had been itching to get on. Pretty cool - sounds like a jet taking off & quick.

Back home to Torno for dinner at a lakeside restaurant in the village & of course yet more red wine - quite enjoying a drop from Valpolicella (Province of Verona) Have to say this holidaying is pretty rough on days like ...

... We got through immigration pretty easily and made our way to the train station. We caught the first train, but missed the connecting train to Lake Como by less than a minute and so we had to wait another hour for the next train. By the time we got to Lake Como it was time to catch a bus to our apartment. We got here about 1pm, local time. And that was the short version I have not been to sleep in 40 hours and I'm going to fall asleep soon. ...
