Happy 6th Birthday to Zak. Caught the shuttle but into town which was a long way from the ship and it was quite hot, so we didn't walk. Had a look at an old Castle but couldn't take photos so decided not to go right inside. Walked up and down and around all the streets. Went down to the waterfront which had a huge park right along it on the other side of the road. No beach; it was all rocks but quite pretty and relaxing. We had lunch in a Greek cafe where the ...
Limassol, Cyprus stephgraeme... way you enter Cyprus is the way you must leave, otherwise the Republic of Cyprus will consider it illegal.
Talk about political hotbeds. We have just left one and entered another, tourist are just sometimes a porn in their games, when all we want is to just travel freely and see what a country has to offer.
Tomorrow we head to Northern Cyprus in search of sand, oh and an escape route.
... hard to find a
church, although in retrospect we could have tried a bit harder. We
got into Limassol and once again struggled a bit trying to find the
hotel but we managed. We went out for a wander and lunch and then
had a leisurely afternoon by the pool. That night we discovered the
old castle and tried the meat mezze. It was a nice night and
Limassol proved to be a worthwhile stop in Cyprus.
... church we had a quick nose through. By now it was 1.20pm so headed off back to the ship via our bus. The country side is covered in limestone and they have terrraced it to help stop errosion. Their vines are a combination of reds and whites some the gnarly variety so no strainers used the vines get a very thick central stem and spread along the ground. Income comes mainly from wine ...
Limassol, Cyprus hazdeb... this time, somebody had rung the caretaker. The paintings were amazing. We were so lucky. Back in town, the red wine flowed, like there was no tomorrow. Day 8 The rest of the days are another story, but on the last day, we saw Larnaca. I took Lucy to the fort and then the mosque. A local came in and said no photos, but it was all to late !!! We went into Agios Lazaros, but old Lazarus still had not returned. Nice church though ...
Limassol, Cyprus uncle_davrosThis will be an on-going series about life in Ecuador. There are a lot of things to be aware of and which websites like International Living and Escape Artist don't dare mention. (These two website are perhaps the most popular for those who want to live, work and retire abroad.) Excerpts from my diary... Friday January 30, 2009 I tried to call my lawyer about Jayne's visa. I was told by her last week that she would get a ...
Limassol, Cyprus richlion... Kykos we drove on a bit to a little village called Pedolas which has an incredibly old Byzantine church. It also has a musum stuffed full of icons from various local churches. The museum and church are owned and run by people who live in the village and we met a couple of real characters! We drove back to Polis & were back in time for dinner at one of the restaurants in the town. Lovely day!

We came to Cyprus, this time but instead of having beach holidays, we thought of spending a week, up on the Mountains of Troodos first, and have two more weeks down in other hotels next to the beach. My house is in Larnaca, but I always choose to stay in a hotel ...
... It's not exactly the most picturesque city, and the traffic there was pretty bad, so we didn't spend much time there. Instead, we hired a taxi to take us around to see some of the sites on the island. The driver was a nice older man who took us around to see a few different places within 20 or 30 kilometers from Limassol. First stop was the Lionheart Castle where King Ric*************heart married Berengaria of Navarre in 1191. From there ...
