As you all know, we are back in the states! I haven't had time to finish writing the last three blog entries but I will as soon as I am able. I just wanted to let you guys know so you can check back over the next few days.

... to Elefsina, but I'd forgotten how easy that would make it. Although the guide said the site closed at 3 pm, we continued on just to be sure of finding it and to confirm the times. Yes, it closed at 3, but right across the street is a nice café-bar called Kykeon, the name of the ancient drink associated with the mysteries. ... and I thought I would have to run for a cubicle too. But the ferry was soon to arrive with Fira - the main town of Santorini - now in sight. At first glance, it looked like the sheer dark, almost black, cliffs were snow-capped. But on closer inspection it was the famous white-washed buildings, perched precariously on the cliff faces, which give that illusion. It makes it really obvious just WHY the Greeks needed to hear the gospel, but also makes it clear just what Paul and the early missionaries were up against. It's amazing to know that even though no one worships Zeus or Apollo, thousands of people trust in Jesus. Very cool. The museum in Corinth was just plain depressing ...

... way to the Parthenon where we were also surrounded by amazing views of of the city below. Before climbing back down, we spent some time in the Acropolis museum that holds many oringal artifacts, freizes, and sculptures from the site. Next stop was the ancient agora which was a meeting place for merchants and served as a cultural venue as well. From there we walked on to the Temple of Haephestos. Later ...

... even finishing the races. It was almost like they were 'privileged' people of their country, like children of diplomats from warring nations. They were given the chance to represent their country and offered a free party vacation. They arrived in Athens, partied, swam a few laps, and then partied some more! They weren't expected to win. They were there for fun. So many of these swimmers seemed to be less athletic than even myself! The races were pretty boring as a result. Among ...
