Ruined by Tourism

... of the world is explored, and that some areas can retain a look and feel unique in the world.

For me some of the best places are areas that retain a pleasant and unique environment, whilst subtly presenting me with the things that allow me to be more comfortable. Simply presenting me with an English menu describing the local cuisine would be a good example - not one filled with pictures of overly sweet iced-cream desserts.

... calming down. For the most part, however, it did not work; I just could not stop thinking about him.

His beautiful (and smart and lovely and very attractive) wife maintained an email contact with me. Turned out she fell in love with me. I think women students ‘falling in love’ with their yoga teacher is pretty common. At least it has been my experience so far. Having to gently reject their advances has always been an uncomfortable and even somewhat ...

pamukkale is expensive.

Awoke near Pamukkale and paid a scandalous amount to get in. 10 pounds each to see some tepid pools of water. Even the initially striking karstic rock was pretty much covered in faint brown footprints. The extorsion didn't end there as it turned out that Cleopatra's Baths, the hot spring at the top was an additional cost. We thought we could get away with just paying for one of us to get in and then swapping the ...

A Hike Above Kas on May 13

I didn't realize that I was actually at the segment end of the trail coming to Kas from the west.

As a consequence, I bushwhacked through the loose rock and thorn bushes, only to rejoin the trail near the top. Home again !!!!

Bridget writes... It was lovely to see everyone in England, from swimming with Cathleen in Folkestone pool, to walking the streets of Madrid with our excellent tour guide Chris, whose height of 6 ft 6 in, was a great help when we were lost in the crowd! Touring Tesco and Sainsbury's still remains a pleasure though I bought far too much to carry back here. We met up with Steve and Sally who have recently returned from Australia, among other places, and what with Rob and Gill's tales ...

I didn't go anywhere in Turkey ...
