... found out that the local pub we had targeted, well known for its variety of beer, was closed on Mondays. Since we had a good parking space, we found a small organic cafe, Cafe Liberia, in the area and ate there. We later looked it up and discovered it was the #2 rated restaurant in Liberia. After a bumpy 2 hour drive along a dirt road and an hour boat ride on the lake we made it to La Fortuna. La Fortuna is a tiny town with views of the Arenal volcano, when it's not a cloudy day. The volcano was active from 1968 to 2010, seems like we were three years too late to witness the lava eruptions.
