... resort. Catherine found a second home at the kids club. I was proud of her swallowing her pride and going even though most of the kids were younger than her. They did arts and crafts, games, and she was allowed to stay behind when they took the younger ones to the pool. She had lunch and "tea" with them and enjoyed the counselors, Elizabeth and Mara. Later in the week, she joined them for outdoor activities like the pool, zip-lining, and rolling down the many sizable ...

It was 13km to the end of the park over fairly rough sandy terrain with the hills continuing as our friend suggested. A few words regarding riding a bicycle through a ...

... we did the 7 lakes route, a tour which takes you to 7 lakes in the area. There was a lot of driving in the bus but the scenery was beautiful, and it was a gorgeous sunny day. The seven lakes in order were Nahuel Huapi, Espejo, Correntoso, Escondido, Villarino, Falkner and Machonico. We stopped in the pretty village of Villa La Angostura, with its Swiss style log cabins and lots of cafes and bars. We had lunch in San Martin de Los Andes, a pretty lakeside town again filled ...

... Most of the other backpackers are happy to wait it out until the forecast blizzard arrives next week, which means there are plenty of people around to buddy up with for some hikes in the meantime.

On Wednesday I hiked up Cerro Otto with two British doctors, Sumi and Sonita, and two Taiwanese med students, Ted and Arthur. The peak of Cerro Otto is an 8km walk out of town, and, as with the walk in Puerto Varas, a pair of tame stray dogs decide to join us for the walk. ...
