... I moaned in the previous blog entry about the size of the tiny plane going to Canaima? 20 seats right? Well I was in for a treat this time with an even more compact 8 seater! The aircraft (loose term) was smaller than a minibus to Manchester on a Saturday night, yet the only similarity it had was bench type/minibus seats. We squeezed in and sat directly behind the 2 pilots with a clear view of the cockpit and beyond. Much to our dismay the plane had no ...

The pousada owner is a lovely woman called Mira, probably in her late 30s she lives here with her family in the posada and she welcomed me warmly. She has no English but we seem to be able to understand each other fairly well when we both speak slowly. She tells me to make myself at home, I have the pousada to ...

Our time in Caracas area (Vargas) was brief. We wake up at 5 am in order to get to the airport .....again. Our plane was fantastic. Two turbo prop and our seat was just behind the 2 pilots. Heaven... At least for me :) The flight was amazing due to the paradisiac views. Arriving in the island, we paid the entry fee and headed to our Hotel. It was cosy and nice. Right after it ...

... catch a boat to a prettier island and set up shop there for the day, enjoying one more day of idleness. So we headed to the docks around 9:30, this time with a cooler including provisions for lunch, and caught a boat heading to Francisqui. Once again, it took a very short time to reach the beautiful isolated beach and we were soon set up with our chairs and umbrella. This time we brought our Frisbee and practiced tossing in the water, having a great time making ...

... the small barren island, I was transferred to my posada. All the island looked like a big beach and there was sand everywhere. The next two days I visited with boat some of the keys of this incredible park, one of greatest of the world characterized by its exceptional beach landscapes of white sands, multicolor waters, crystalline tibias and with a marine life unheard of in the northern Caribbean. I was also able to make snorkeling in these coralline reefs, enjoy the ...
