Well...Day 2 hasn't gone quite according to plan, but that's not to say it hasn't been fun. There was quite alot of rain overnight so we decided against climbing the volcano. Instead, I wandered around for a few hours in the early morning before meeting Jennifer for a walking tour with Elizabeth Bell, one of the leading authorities on Antigua. Hard to believe that day 3 is already here - and almost over, for that matter. Finishing up from yesterday´s rushed post, yesterday morning´s walking tour with Elizabeth Bell was one of the highlights of the trip, giving us more insight into the history of the people, government, etc... than we ever would have gotten on our own. The afternoon wasn´t quite as interesting, though... the Coffee Plantation tour we were supposed to take left earlier than we were told it would so we didn´t make it....

Well, I made it safe and sound to Guatemala, but my luggage did not! Since we are only here until tomorrow morning (and only 5 am at that!) I was a tad worried. But fortunately, it made it here today and all is well. I went for a brief tour of some of the nearby villages and historic churches this morning with three other members of the GAP group. I did the Elizabeth Bell city tour in the morning which was great, she didn't show us the whole way around town which is what you might expect of a city tour but what I loved about it was that we learnt about the politics, economics and culture of Guatemala, Antigua and the Mayas. I found it fascinating as I didn´t know much before hand. Hello One and All! Well after nearly 30 hours of travelling, lots of time zone changes and not a lot of sleep ive made it! The flights were fine, on the way to LA we flew over Salt Lake City and the whole area was snowy and frozen, it looked lovely, and you could definately tell when we flew over Las Vegas and Los Angeles!
