Six pounds of laundry

Have been in Antigua Guatemala for the past four days. Have already climbed Volcan Pacaya - an active volcano not far from Antigua. There are three other volcanos that actually overlook Antigua - Fuego, Agua & Acatenanga. The group has had three spanish lessons (with individual tutors) to help us understand a little more what is going on and participate more when shopping, going fr lunch, dinner etc. We have been staying at Posada Lazos Fuertes. Six pounds of luandry is the amount of wash...

Giant Kite Festival sans wind (Andy)

... crazy. Instead of mourning those lost they celebrated them with stories, food and gifts. It was definitely a holiday that we all agreed would be a good addition in the States.

We headed back up to the main event to watch the competition take place. There is both a artistry and flying competition for the day. We were very curious as to how they plan on flying these massive kites on a day with absolutely no ...

4 weeks of Spanish studies and now...

... something more solid to refer to instead of loose paper sheets. I searched on Amazon the other day and found some very cheap and well recommended books on Spanish grammar and vocabulary, and I will buy those once I get back home. As I mentioned, I had a very good relationship with Maribel. However, that was not the case with all of the other students. There were several teachers, who from the first day would complain to the student about their financial ...

LAVA!!!! MALTEN MAGMA!!! UNFORGETTABLE!!!

... more than a 130cm and within a few seconds of trying to toast the sandwich, it fell on a rock in the lava. After a few tries I spiked the bread again and rushed away from the lava. All this happened in about twenty seconds, and my sandwich was well and truly toasted, and delicious. Without a stick ...

Volcano's are hot, hot, hot.

... but luckily they had a room spare, and was the cheapest thing we spent money on in Antigua, with lunch more often than not costing more than a nights accommodation.

On our second full day there we went on a tour to Volcan Pacaya. From the car park it was 3 kilometres to the top of the Volcano, a trip that went through jungle, then over volcanic rock. Horses were available as taxi’s for those that desired and Milli partook in one that was probably not that keen on being ...

Guatemala Clean is not the same as English Clean

... played a random film with lots of gun noises, but I think the jet-lag may have aided my rest (along with Mum’s travel pillow and my ipod) for I actually slept rather well!! All the time I was tightly cuddling my hand luggage – which I think was a very good plan since one of the guys we met on the bus says he woke up at one point to see a lady with a flashlight trying to open someone’s bag!!! Anwen is glad Sarah had a nice sleep. She didn&#8217 ...

Il vous suffit de taper le nom du plat ou de l'aliment dans le champ Search et hop ! Ca, c'était pour les plats cuisinés. ... get anywhere as close to the top, but it didn't stop a group of almost-mountaineers attempting to scramble as close as possible to the crater at "their own risk" as the guides waited below, marvelling at the gringo propensity for near-death experiences. Don't worry mum&dad, I didn't do it, was scolded out of it by some American doctors who pointed out the setting sun and my lack of torch. Boo, spoilsports.

Pacaya, climb the active volcano!

... off their feet. It blew my hat away, not just off. The last I saw of my hat was it flying straight away across the valley below! The sticks were invaluable in this regard. We worked upward like some three legged tripod. Often someone above would loosen a large piece of sharp basalt and start it rolling. Those below were clearly endangered. There were signs of avalanche chutes where tons of slag like sharp boulders and sand had given way to the wind and ...
