... He was like "and that engraving is a jaguar" or "those columns are square, wheras those are cilindrical". It is like having a guide for a blind person!<br><br>It is like in Thailand where, after the 18th Buddha that day, you start to become a little jaded! Not having studied buddhas at uni!<br><br>So i think i am in need of some beach time! x xx x
Chichén Itzá, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico andycrisp... did. <br><br><!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--><!--[endif]--> Food was surprisingly expensive in Progreso, so we knew we couldn’t stay for too long.<br>Our hotel just off the beach on the first night was $25 dollars, but that came<br>with a ****** mattress and a cockroach as co-tenant. We moved the next day to a<br>hotel further in the middle of town, which came with cable tv, wifi, air con<br>and no insects for $30. Amazing what difference $5 can make. We spent quite a<br>few ...
Chichén Itzá, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico shanemilli... water fountians of different shapes and sizes along the way. It ended in a large park dedicated to the steel industry. Sounds ugly, but there were more free museums, and it was actually pretty (except for the large furnace stacks). <br><br>Heading back to the bus stop, and thinking we perhaps should have booked an earlier bus out of town, we started poking around looking for a resturant for dinner. Oddly enough, all the ...
Monterrey, Northern Mexico, Mexico kimandjohn... of back alley in downtown Monterrey. It has a kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom with AC! All for US$10 per night! Sometimes even though we seem to be taken care of - there's just no peace. Monterrey is a BEAUTIFUL city, although very Americanized. After two more meetings were set up for this weekend, we knew we had to cancel and keep moving. It was confirmed by MANY. The people were not happy, but oh well. On to Tampico!
Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico robandmillie... instead of singing - and off tune to add) the worship songs. I looked to my right and Rob had dissappeared. At the time, I thought he went to the bathroom but really, he was being told all the things he had to change in order to minister - in a back room. He came back about 15 minutes later with huge shriveled holes in his ears where his guages had been. I already started to get bad feelings. <br> As I try my best to ...
Monterrey, Northern Mexico, Mexico millieradosti... Plenty of Irish ballads and music pumping from the car helped along with Packies singing! We stayed with friends of my uncles' called the Garzas for two nights. They also showed us around the city and surrounding areas, brought us out for dinner and generally gave us an amazing time! We went to the beautiful lake town of Santiago where Ever has a summer house and ...
Monterrey, Northern Mexico, Mexico dixieannie... most of the other people were wearing t-shirts and jeans. Got through immigration and customs, which took so long that both my baggage and I almost didn't make it to Monterrey on time. Thank God we did. Monterrey is breaktakingly beautiful. It is surrounded by the mountains, la Sierra Madre. Everywhere you look, there are mountains. You can also easily see the influence from its northern neighbor. Just about everything ...
Monterrey, Mexico serenebamboo... you felt like you were the only person there. The ruins cover an absolutely huge area, around 2.5 miles from north to south, and it was incredibly hot but we did manage to explore everything ....including the hundreds of souvenir stalls!! <br><br>We'd booked into the Delores Alba hotel so we took a taxi there, checked in and read our books by the pool and chilled out for a while. There was a huge iguana by ...
Chichén Itzá, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico j.knudsen... climbed the great pyramid – all but Bob and Joyce. The kids made it up on their own. Great panorama. Next, to the Sacred Cenote (murky), back to the Temple of the Jaguar and Collimade of 1000 Soldiers. We hiked back behind where fewer people went and saw more temples plus the boathouse. Past the “Mercado” to the road to the Observatory and Nunnery. Very impressive complex. The kids explored a dark, dark passage in the ...
