... to Rio (cheaper than flying from Venezuela). So off we went to the internet to book some flights. What a nighmare!! Adam was seriously scared of Karrina as the stress of finding flights for under $1500 each was taking its toll. She was going crazy! Finally found flights for $700 each that would get us to Rio at 10.40pm on the 18th Feb (our accommodation was pré booked and paid months ago for the 18-23rd Feb- Carnval time is busy in Rio, better ...

... going (and helped us avoid the swarm of dodgy taxi drivers). We are going to get an overnight bus to Ciudad Bolivar, a city on the banks of the Orinocco river. An attraction of the city, and the purpose for our visit, is that it is a good place to organise a tour to Angel Falls! We will keep you all updated! p.s. Our sunburn (for those of you who were concerned) is pretty much all healed up and going brown!

... here to get our flight out to Peru tomorrow so off we went into the big bad world! We got a bus from Puerte Colombia to Caracas this morning and managed to negotiate the metro to a station close to a hotel we read about all the time on high alert for something out of place. When we were leaving the Metro station we stepped to one side to check our map when a very concerned lady approached and dramatically warned us about pickpockets and muggers ...

... disappear in a couple of gulps. Stan always had to order two at a time for himself because by the time he got back from the bar he would have finished one bottle. The reason behind it, as stated in the guidebook is that the Venezuelans like their beer very cold. I personally think its just another clever marketing strategy devised by Polar, by far the biggest beverage company in Venezuela, to earn more money per bottle. As I write this, Stan disagrees and is waffling ...

I might add that the police station was in one of the roughest areas in Caracas and I wasn´t too inspired by the fact that the driver had to stop at least 7 times to ask directions. When we eventually arrived to the seediest Police office I have ever seen outside of the romancing the stone movie more than an hour had passed. I explained my situation (I don´t even have a Virgin store near me, I have to go all ...

The "haves" strut downtown flaunting their wealth through the malls and ritzy neighborhoods of Las Mercedes, El Rosal, and Altamira. They go to discos and drive SUVS. They are perpetually fashion conscience and literally wear their socio-economic status for others to see. I decided to participate in a S@S sponsored tour of Caracas that would take me via bus to several ...

My shirt was soaked and I was cold and couldn't put it back on so I hunched over and shivered for a couple of hours. I don't understand how the camera crew managed to stay so dry. Oh yeah, they were at the front of the boat. I need to start travelling as part of a camera crew. We arrived at the base camp and the weather cleared ...
