... for the fact that unlike the Top Gear team, one’s not starring in a movie with exclusive access to the route. We did wonder what it would be like to go up in the cable car. It’s one of the longest cables we’ve seen.

We both thoroughly enjoyed the day. The 1480 steps was a perfect midday break which prevented “square butt” syndrome from taking hold. The evening in camp was close on perfect too.

The parking was only 5 hamsters for the whole day. 1 euro is 4 hamsters by the way. The Slovakian couple we met told us there was a medieval festival the whole past week and it ended (guess when?) last night. So we just missed it.
Couple souvenires, a postcard (which I never got to send), and a small walk around a cemetery later, we figured we've seen everything this town has to offer and headed back to Clio. Don't get ...

What a difference a couple of days makes! After spending the night in a hot campsite with no water (they finally got water that night - see picture below), we made our way to Cirta for our last camping night. Most of the riders were very glad to see the end of camping - we also celebrated Mick's birthday and Bonny's last night to cook. Personally, I was a little sad to know there'll be no more camping on our trip. Though I don't like rolling up ...

... it), so after 5 km we get off and take the dead end road. During the hour we were on that road, five people stopped us to explain the road would end. Only by showing them our map and explaining that we knew it would be a dirt track, they would accept us going further. We found the Bulgarians friendly, but a bit reluctant. They would react, but seldom take the initiative for contact. Apparently the Rumanians are not that shy.

... in awe of the history unfolding before my eyes. My favourite part, however, was the slab with a Roman footprint. I absolutely loved the human element of the history.

Our young guide was very informative. I was extremely impressed not only by his intelligence, but also by the fact that he was so willing to work in a job like that, rather than be out playing with his friends.
