Very nice hotel. Cozy rooms and a beautiful view. It also has a ease access to the beach by chair lift.

... where we board a boat and as the weather was not great the sea was very lively. So much so that the boat was swaying like crazy and almost went horizontal a few times. We made it in the end. Arrived at Ilha Grande, which is a tropical paradise island with no cars and not ATMs.

Our accommodation is up a hill away from the party beach front which meant we would get some sleep. It is not a hostel, but a ‘pousada’, which is more like a pension or ...

So we go to Ilha Grande an island 150km away from Rio and we get off the boat and try and find our hostel. After a 30 minute walk literally up a mountain in the sweltering heat with our 12kg backpacks (oh and I fell and lay on my back and couldnt get up like a big bug in trouble while Alex laughed) we got to what we kept saying would be Paradise at the top. Instead we got to a shack of a hostel, with ...

Island life

... beach, supposedly one of the top ten beaches in the world, was actually quite a let down. The waves were too rough to swim in and there was a vicious current. There was nothing super spectacular about the beach in any case. We sun baked for a while and then decided to head back to the other nicer beaches for a swim. Following Alice and Boyd's lead, I decided to run back to the hotel for some much needed exercise. Very glad I did as I felt ...
