Portofino Island Resort Pensacola

I thought it was wonderful. You could spend a week there and still have not used every amenity Portofino offers. I don't know why Macon, GA gave it 2 stars. There is plenty to do at this resort. Beautiful rooms and gorgeous pools at the spa. Very clean and incredible attention to detail in design. Wish we could live there!

The place was alright, but would have been better if there was more to do. Not everyone wants a day at the spa or to spend all day on the beach. I guess I was looking for more of a "tourist"-type place, but this wasn't it. My biggest thrill was the construction outside as it gave me something to watch during the day. High-speed internet access is also available which was a huge plus. A bit expensive for my taste, but oh well - that's what you get when you're with someone who MUST be on a beach every vacation.

My husband and I just came back this weekend from a week long stay at the Portofino - luckily we left right before Hurricane Frances arrived! Our stay was wonderful - we stay in a lot of condos on the beach, but none nicer than the Portofino. The condo was very spacious, and very tastefully decorated. (Not your typical Florida condo decor - it was actually decor I would do in my own house). The views of the Gulf and the bay were amazing. I spent a full day at the spa, and really enjoyed being pampered with a massage, facial, manicure, and pedicure. The pools were beautiful and it was nice to get complimentary chairs and an umbrella at the beach. It was also nice to be able to park the car in covered garage parking. Other perks included a daily newspaper, as well as daily updates on the day's weather and sea conditions. The only downside was the sound of construction early each morning (they are building several more towers) but you eventually get used to it. I would definitely recommend the Portofino to anyone looking for an upscale place to relax near the beach.

My husband and I went to the Portofino at the end of August 2004 with his family. We stayed in Tower 1, Rm 608 and it was wonderful!!! From our room and balcony we could see the bay and the beach. The room was decorated with an asian theme and fit in perfect with the beach. The room also had anything needed for a great stay (washer, dryer in room, cooking supplies, etc.). Each tower has its own pool but there is also a huge main pool, and an indoor olympic pool. I would stay there in a heartbeat again and I think the price is very reasonable considering what you get. I also liked how it was set off from the pain part of Pensacola, the beach was never crowded.

What a great surprise! We always go to seaside, seagrove or Watercolors, and this was a last minute choice we didnt regret. We stayed Tower 1 18th floor. The layout was lovely and furnished in the Tommy Bahama motif. We loved that everything was very conveniently located. It was much easier to get to then the other destinations. Great fishing, Spa, and work out facilities. One tip if you are looking to go on a family vacation, stay away from Memorial Weekend. It is gay pride celebration, very similar to Girls gone Wild or College Spring Break. Not Family Friendly at that time.

Just returned from this heavenly resort. No detail has been overlooked. This is a first class vacation resort destination. Go and enjoy!

My husband and I stayed at the Portofino the middle of May 2004. We were in Tower 1 on the 18th floor with an incredible view of the gulf and the bay. Our condo was decorated so nice and included every amenity possible. There is a wonderful restaurant on site with great food and service. We weren't able to visit the spa. We had easy access to the gulf beaches. I will definitely stay there again.

Our family had an incredible time. This is a true World-class resort setting. The staff was very professional, the condo we stayed in was top notch with beautiful views of the bay and gulf. Truely a unique property. We can't wait to go back!

Portofino is beyond any other resort I have ever visited. The resort is beautiful and the the amenities are endless.

we spent 3 nights here at christmas. tis was the most elegant condo we have ever experienced--gourmet kitchen quality beds 2 1/2 baths balcony access form living roon and both bedrooms, professionally decorated, not to mention a friendly staff and excellent resaurant and indoor pool. we did not visit the spa.
