Playa El Agua Playa el Agua, Margarita Island, Coastal Islands, Venezuela
... but thanks to Andrea’s “cola” weaving skills and Armando buying our tickets for the bus we even managed to get some arepas to eat before we left. Once we arrived Tita took us to get some empanadas for breakfast, which were very tasty. Then onto her swimming pool for the perfect antidote to our tiring journey.
My time in Margarita is now drawing to a close, it has been a great place to relax before the hard work starts!
... I am so glad, it is imense!! (to follow).
My Spanish is coming along nicely. I was speaking with the cleaner of Tita in the morning of leaving and wanted her to slow down, so I did......."muy desayuno, por favor", she must think he is crazy asking for very breakfast! I will not forget now how to say "mas despacio"!!!! But this was fun tambien.
Isla Margarita, Isla Margarita, Venezuela ricardoalberoni...
El Yaque, Venezuela jhoekstra79... an american area, with luxurious malls, bars and restaurants. Altamira is also a cool area, so is the Centro during the day, where we can find nice buildings and original architecture. We left Caracas on the 24th to go to Puerto la Cruz, a mid-size city right on the water. Nothing exceptional about it, but we met a super nice guy in the bus (5 hours of transportation... we had time to meet people!). He's from Iceland but has ...
Porlamar, Venezuela frenchiesAfter a 2km hike through the scorching semi-desert to the bus stop we caught a dancing bus (blaring Party music and wide open windows) to Polamar and then a taxi to Pampatar to our host family for Sanish school. Pampatar definately is the most affluent town we saw in Venezuela: nice townhouse developments, big shopping centres and tree lined streets. We had a great week with a great family and met ...
Playa El Angel, Isla Marguerita, Venezuela kingsandems... daily newspaper, to be his vice-president. As for Uribe's often-cited "landslide" victory, he received 53% of the official vote, but only 25% of the electorate voted! He was also the only South American leader to back Bush´s invasion of Iraq, and is rapidly increasing the size of the Colombian Armed Forces and the USA´s involvement in intelligence gathering. The Bush administration are keen to see the USA expand its multi-billion dollar ...
Porlamar, Venezuela sheenasumaria... take a quick nap so that I'll last through the night. So I layed down, without even locking my front door, closed my eyes and within seconds, I was deep in the dreamlands - and stayed there until late the next morning!
So, I really had to get something done. I went out in search of a decent, and low-ish priced diving company. I guess the price was more important than the quality but I got quite lucky. I went with Margarita Divers to ...
Porlamar, Venezuela koutinka... capital of Puerta La Cruz and sitting in the Margarita Island ferry terminal for 7 hours waiting for my ferry to take me there. On mistake A: I don't know if it was just the track I took, but there was very little spoken English if any at all. What I noticed was that the majority of tourists in Venezuela were Venezuelan and so English was not common at all. I did not go to Caracas and I found that the lovely University town of Merida in the Andes had more English than ...
