Earlier in my travels I had heard of the Oktoberfest in a small town in Brazil and on my second morning found that my hostel was running a trip to it. I signed up and headed off on the 2.5 hour bus journey to see the biggest celebrations outside of Germany. 5 painful hours later we arrived and were let loose in the venue with the plan of meeting back at the entrance 7 hours later (around 3am).

... cloudy but still beautiful. I spent the entire day taking care of some little things for when I get to South Africa. Lots of reading and lounging around. Not a bad day at all. On day 3 I knew I needed to do something active. I signed up for 2 bike tours around the island and ya it was amazing. I was riding a bike for about 8 hours up and down hills all over the island. ... not the case. This thing was a kamikaze with a mission. Fly straight into as many lights, windows, doors, people as possible. Not in my..language school' family's house! ... lone strip with this older, beaten down white building proudly displaying "FLORIANOPOLIS" with giant green mountains on all sides. I have to give credit to God because throughout all the connections, we didn't lose a single piece of paperwork and our baggage checked through no problem.
