... highways in Brazil is now for the faint hearted. The truck drivers are crazy - we nearly saw a huge truck tip over in front of us at top speed. I think I aged 10 years just on the drive. It's possible is the same on the roads all through South America but when you are sitting on a bus you don't tend to notice. It'll be a while before I feel like going by car any distance ...

... It was the surf instructor come to pick me up. Instead of us driving straight to the beach I had to accompany him and his friends for breakfast. This was pretty awkward as I had no idea what they were saying. Luckily after though I had an amazing surf lesson. The rain had driven everyone away so I had an empty beach and a one on one lesson. I surfed for hours and really improved before the end. I even caught a few waves completely ...

The journey was easier than expected to florianopolis, especially considering that I'm the dominated chief organiser and communicator of the group. Yes that's right, me! I'm travelling with the two girls from stokey - Sinead & Sonia, who, sorry ladies, are more clueless than I. The journey requires getting a bus to São Paulo (6hrs), then another to florianopolis (11hrs). We of course made sure we'd ...
