... we went to visit the Pantheon, which is church with a rectangular front with pillars, but circular inside, it was very pretty but I was suffering from a pretty severe headache at this point and probably didn't get out all I could have from it. We then made our way slowly home and I sent myself straight to bed. Our next day in Rome we decided it was time for the other big hitter of the area - the Vatican, that religious city state that one walking tour guide in Spain ...

... island. To the north was Oia, expensively situated for cruise and luxury seeking tourists. While this is not our style, it was fun to see and we found some very high quality art and architecture - beyond our budget but appreciated nonetheless. We also walked along the caldera cliff to catch some great viewpoints and exercise. We returned to Thira on the eastern side of the island to get a good view of the flat rural area and sea coast.

We were up early the next day ...

Des wanted to have a souvlaki in Greece so we had lunch at a restaurant overlooking ...

... gravel up to the house in their packs, which they released with a rope and the loose gravel dropped out the bottom on the floor. It all made sense now. After a trek to the Cathedral it was back for a look see in the shops. I couldn't resist an item or two - a girl has got to have a souvenir! The last part of our port stop involved a ride on the cable car down the side of the mountain to the port. We had been warned those scared of heights should ...

      ... rather amusing.

We planned to catch the bus to Santos Wines next, but were disappointed to find that we had just missed the bus and there wouldn’t be another for 60 minutes! Since this was desperately going to mess with our sunset plans we decided to walk the 30 minute route though we weren’t very confident in our directions! We thankfully arrived with just enough time to secure the last table ...
