We stopped here to see Tulum which is the site of a Pre-Columbian Maya walled city. The ruins are located on a 39 feet (12-meter) cliffs, along the east coast of the peninsula. In order to get to the ruins from the town, we picked up a local bus for the 10 minute ride and then walked to the site and around for a total of 5 miles during the afternoon.

... island of San Pedro to get some cash out as the ONLY machine on Caye Caulker stopped working, still it got them out for the morning and ment they could eat that night. The last group meal was well washed down with rum punch and last farwells said. Off home soon, Mac wonders if it will be 35c in England, will US Immigration be another mare, will the mosquito killler machine work tonight? oh sooo many questions. Mac
Caye Caulker, Belize Cayes, Belize easton-martin... at a place along the main strip. We both liked the coconut flavor the best. Back to Ak Kun for the rest of the evening ---- food comas... Monday, December 29th: We only had several small casa errands to run and we could accomplish all of them in Tulum so we decided to spend the first half of the day at El Paraiso beach. We arrived early and first took a right at the T in the Tulum to the beach road south to explore because we never ventured down that way ...
Chemuyil, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico chanchemuyil... the margaritas. The price is right too! Thursday, September 11 - This morning Chris finished painting the trim, electrical post and mailbox. We went to Akumal bay in the morning to beat the crowds for snorkeling. Bonnie and Ben came over to join us also and did a round in the water. It was a gorgeous day and I didn't want to leave the beach, but we had to meet Joe and Renee after lunch to finalize some things. We grabbed some snacks at the Super Chomak and ate some ...
Chemuyil, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico chanchemuyil... by forgetting my tourist visa. They said if I could have it scanned and emailed soon (before my departure), that would be okay. Whew! Our next adventure was Home Depot which also was not too hard to locate. We were aiming to buy fans, lights, blinds, shower curtain rod and rings, water cooler system and a trash can. Their fan selection was definitely adequate. Even though the fan style I wanted appeared to be sold out and was not on the shelves, they did have them available ...
Chemuyil, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico chanchemuyil... disguised as bricks. I found out later that the highway we were on was just north of the borders of both Guatemala and Belize, and the soldiers were doing their sworn duty of keeping an eye out for r suspicious people. I guess I needed a haircut? Our last official stop was around 11 o'clock pm in Escarcega, Campeche for the official time of 30 (okay, it was really 45) minutes. I am not sure when we crossed into the final state of Quintana Roo ...
Zihuatanejo to Playa del Carmen, Mexico tacoinusa... vyimme yhden yön; ihastelimme taskurapua suihkuhuoneessa ja puistelimme hiekkaa sängyistä. Maisemat olivat kuin kirjasta ja pojat nauttivat Karibianlahden isoista aalloista. Kyllä elämä on ihanaa! Mexicolainen ruokakin on maistunut hyvältä.
Tulum, Mexico pentti_kotiaho... from Copal to see how far we could go, and determined that it is not feasible (or even possible?) to get from Copal to this stretch of beach. Somewhat north of Copal you come across a section of rock, that if one would fall onto while crossing would quickly turn you into hamburger. This is very similar to what we encountered years back on Cozumel at el Mirador We did not venture out onto said rock then, as we had no idea how far it ...
Akumal/Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico austxdan... and security, and security dancing! Ok, not really, but it really looked like he wanted to dance with the hottie in front of him rather than just stand there being all "security-like". Once this band finished, the stage was somewhat revamped for a DJ/dance show. Since it was already 10:30 PM, it was getting past our bedtime(you'll appreciate this when you see the sunrise pics), so we called it a night and head back to Copal and crashed.
