Reason for Leaving...

After 7 months of sunshine in Greece we have decided we need a little more so are heading south in search of more blue skies...first destination though is Singapore to check out the Hawker Markets and Zoo. Then onto Cairns where we pick up our 'Spaceship' which will be our home for 10 weeks as we head down the east coast to Melbourne. Assuming that we survive the snakes ...

FROM POROS PORT IN KEFALONIA, TO KYLINI (PELOPONYSOS)

The day is beautiful today, and there is sunshine.

It is windy however, and we decided to return from Kilini instead, just one and a half hours in the Ferry.

THE FESTIVAL DAY AT THE ISLAND OF KEFALONIA

Saturday the 26th

THE FESTIVAL DAY

After the festival was over, we were taken to a tavern for dinner.

There we had the opportunity to see an old dear friend of ours –Nico and his new wife.

The last time we had seen this dear friend of ours were at least 10 even more years, and we were all anxiously waiting to meet again. He came with his wife-whose ...

SAMI – AGIA EFIMIA

Sami is a beautiful town built by the seafront at the feet of Agii Phanendes and Castro hills, upon which used to be the ancient city.

Sami one of the four major cities comprising the four-state Kefalonia, was well-known from Homer's epic poetry. When Homer referred to the island, he called it "Sami". Sami remained known in history from its resistence to Romans. It is ...

From Scala, as the road goes on unwinding along the seaside, one meets virgin beaches.

Leaving Atsoupades, we can follow the coastal route, which is also the central road to the port of Poros. We will pass the village of Markopoulo, which is well-known around the world because of the unique phenomenon of small snakes marked with a small cross-shaped sign on their heads ...

Our sailing adventure

... at least get a fan that he could use. Then we discovered that all of the sailboats at the dock had electricity except ours! Apparently, our captain did not have the correct cables for connecting up to electricity at the dock. Finally, someone at the dock let us borrow a cable for connecting up. So, refusing to suffer another night of being unable to sleep in the heat, Rich and John set off in search of some type of electric fan to use in their cabin. After much hunting we ...

Like in a cage

Isn't that funny? I love sun, heat, swimming-pool, seaside, but I got bored in such conditions on Zakynthos. I thought as if I was in a cage. Touristic zone, small Porta Koukla, near Laganas - was too small for the city dweller like me. One restaurant and two shops when I could pay with credit cards. Is it EU at all? With such a huge touristic demand and therfore experience they didn't think much of the facilities.

Volcanic Smells and Kamikaze Charterers

... in a force 6 to 8 to sail 6 miles to Poros. Poros is a beautiful town and is really geared up to deal with yachties, particularly charter boats. We were about to go through a steep and terrifying learning curve about the skills of charterers and the maintenance levels of the boats. We berthed in strong winds, bows to (i.e with our anchor out at the stern of the boat and tied onto the pontoon at the front) to a pontoon in the centre of ...
