      ... Blue skies gradually gave way to cloud as we neared the summit, but the coating of ice and snow gave us the excuse to fit crampons, making Steve's day.

      ... now I understand why. We continued to Lake Windermere and the Macdonald Hotel. The hotel is right on the lake, a beautiful location. Greg stayed in the car whilst I went to reception to check in and find out about car park. I handed over my reservation coupon and the reception manager typed in my name.
