... s name is Lourdinha. She seems nice, and the class seems somewhat interesting but also easy. It is basically about what is wrong with the environment, and how it affects life. Next is topografia 9. An intro to surveying course, should be interesting, especially since Mizzou doesn't offer a course like it. Teacher is alright also. Finally, estradas 2. A course that talks about the Brazilian highway infrastructure. Professor is nice, but a ...

Recife, Guianina and Pipa

Hey again. When last we left you, we were about to go on the bus to Guanina. Well, after we figured out how to work up the bus system in Recife, we bought the tickets, which were pretty expensive might I add, because we were billed for the full bus route although we had to get off at half way. So the bus took off at 13:00 on to Natal, the ride was very comfortable, the bus is very long travel oriented... On the way he even ...

Immediately a young guy comes up and starts describing the church and tells us he's a student who works as a guide and shows me his guide card. So off we go, church, craft market, photo stop, church, craft market, photo stop. We're there for about two hours during which time it goes dark ...

Porto de Galinhas

Porto de Galinhas is a small beach town about 1 hour S of Recife, on the NE coast of Brazil. There are no high rises here but there are plenty of posadas, or guest houses in the area. I spent 5 nights and 4 days in this quiet town. I wish the weather cooperated a bit more but when it wasn`t raining, I was either surfing, relaxing on the beach, swimming, going on a dune buggy ride or ...

ADVENTURE IN PERNAMBUCO?

... 30-foot tree, I definitely didn't know how to come down. I figured a brisk walk to the store was all the more adventure I needed before breakfast. ITEM 4 - EAT BREAKFAST. After all, it was enough of a challenge just finding a spoon in Porto de Galinhas. My energy for the day came from 2-litres of ice cream mixed with Snickers and Oreo-like cookies. ITEM 5 - SNORKEL AT PORTO DE GALINHAS. I stumbled upon a section of coral in deep water, where the reef stuck out at the top, making it ...
