... pay 15GBP/glass or more. 14-02-08 Caught the bus from outside the hostel to Arriel do Cabo- recommended by Lance from the mango tree. The end of the journey was through sand dunes and was amazing. Once off the bus we got directiosn form a travel agency which were to end up being very good friends of ours!! We went a beautiful beach called Praire do Forna. The next hostel was one block from the beach ...
Buzios, Brazil laura275... The one girl wants money from us. She needs $20R I think and everyone gives her a $5 + her $5 would be $20. She comes back with 5 beers. What, 5 ****ing beers, are you kidding me. Now beers in Brazil are much more expensive then in the US (not in bars, but in stores they are more expensive), but damn, I know they werenīt $4R each. Whatever, what can I do. We go to Patriciaīs and I crack open a beer. She has a super nice crib with a swimming pool and ...
Buzios, Brazil merkdog4... part of Rio called Santa Teresa. It sounded simple to get to in the guide book but after getting off the metro at the wrong station, then getting utterly lost we nearly gave up. Whilst wandering the streets we met a guy from the UK who, like us, was totally lost. Between the three of us we managed to find the tram station for Santa Teresa. The tram journey was an experience in itself. It was so rickety it felt as though it would fall apart and the locals would run ...
Rio de Janeiro, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil mattandlou... fancy you! We cannot describe just how lively and passionate these people are about this sport. At the end of the game we head out, between masses of people....down through the exit, suddenly we see people holding their t-shirts over their faces, people screaming, the police using their battons and everyone darting away from being beaten! Our stomachs drop to the ground...we are in the middle of a riot, we lose ...
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil cosbo... playing instruments. The party started way earlier so people are wasted. One of the worst parts of Carnaval is that there are very few toilets. People are going everywhere, not caring if others are around. After some people watching, I am hungry. Not wanting to eat the street food here, I wander for a restaurant. The entire city is shut down. No restaurants, stores ... are open. I find floats along one of the major avenues, waiting for the first night of the Samba parade ...
Rio, Brazil will.traveller... she moved in and she was completely fine with it. So, on the Sunday I went to met Marc at the bus station. He was looking very fine with his beard and shaggy hair-do. I called it the 'castaway' look. LOL. Cabbed it back to my place were he cleaned up and unpacked. He brought me three cans of Campbell's Chunky Soup (it's amazing how much you can miss that stuff) and three boxes of Kraft Dinner Deluxe. Oh yah, life was good. I saved one box of KD for my ESL students cuz one ...

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil southwickchrishi guys, from what i hear there is a film in the theatres called the tourist, or something like that ..."turista"....apparently it~s set in brazil & is this horror story of black market organ selling...you know the rare worst-case kinda story...anyways, everyone here is pretty adament about boycotting it. i think in places like canada we see films like that, like city of god, and think it~s exposing us to a more accurate picture of the place where it ...
Rio de janeiro, Brazil riogirls... stayed there for a couple of hours though cos it was too hot. One morning it was 30 degrees at 8am and there was only one really cloudy day in the whole week I was there. Football FANATIC that I am, I went to see a local game, flamengoes against vasco, which was pretty good. Unfortunately we lost, the flamengoes that is...I decided Iīd support them cos I was surrounded by their fans so I reckoned it was the best move ...
Rio de janeiro, Brazil johnniemorrow... lobster. The seasoning was perfect! The only thing that was missing was a little sausage. Other than that, we had delicious shrimp empanadas and shrimp sauteed in garlic. The paella was also mostly shrimp (plus four lobster tails), so we ate A LOT of shrimp. However, it was a nice change of pace after eating so much steak for the past week. I have commented several times that itīs a good thing we donīt have any doctorīs appointments coming up where we might have our cholesterol ...
