... and I am sitting, under cover because it is raining, beside the pool waiting for the ceremonies to begin....only so I get a photo for my blog! Perhaps there will not be the need to throw folks in the pool to initiate them into our group of experienced crossers...they would just need to slip and slide around the pool and then will be soaked. ... drove us around some of the more salubrious parts of Jakarta, it was quite bizarre being in the capital city with huge mauls, highways and thick traffic having just left the mountains where the most common mode of transport is a moped or horse.

It was lovely to catch up with an old friend but sadly we missed meeting his Chinese wife Mai Lei who was on holiday with her mother in Beijing.

... prachtige "Batavia Marina". Een prachtig gebouw dat je terugbrengt naar de tijd van Johan Pieterszoon en kornuiten, maar helaas het gebouw is nog geen 15 jaar oud. De sfeer is er gelukkig niet minder op, maar toch. En weer hop het busje in en door naar de volgende "attractie", de oude stad van Jakarta, hier geproefd van de VOC periode en door het museum geslenterd ........ aansluitend heerlijk geluncht in het even zo mooie "Batavia Café". Heerlijk gegeten, gedronken ...
