... little balcony at Marco's, unfortunately the down side of being so close to the beach was the noise from the bustling harbour, a hundred metres to our right- this is the main sea port from Bali to Lombok and the Gili Islands. The announcements and honking ship horns could be heard every few minutes but once we got used to them it was kind of nice and gave off an authentic vibe.

The Grand Kecubung is easily the best hotel in town, but there's not much competition in Pangkalan Bun. At twenty five quid a night you can't go wrong. It was so nice checking into an air conditioned room with a flushing toilet and a hot shower. For the first time in days we both felt clean.
