... and traditional than Seaside. The Red Bar is busy, noisy, and looks a bit of a dive, but the queue outside despite a 90minute wait to be seated hinted at the quality inside. Surf up 8-10 feet so no swimming in the ocean ...

A long drive east, leaving Louisiana through Mississippi, Alabama and into Florida following the gulf coast. Wildlife alert: Saw 2 armadillos, dead by the roadside.

More astonishing weather, driving through more thunderstorms but getting to Pensacola beach, Florida, in hot sun. The sand is desert island white and fine as icing sugar, and the water was colder than expected, ...

Miles driven so far = 11,155

We have been "lounging" here on the white sand beaches for past few days. We drove 424 miles from Savannah on north Georgia coast down through Jacksonville then across thru Tallahassee (Florida State University) over to pan handle then south to Grayton Beach State Park which is 40 miles NW of Panama City.

This little gem lies in between towns with multitudes of high rise condos, ...
