... being on the canal. There are canalfront houses, condos, docks with Adirondack chairs set up on them. There was a marine and kayak rental operation, a big park with lots of people feeding ducks, biking and walking their dogs. I saw more people here than I usually see or have ever seen on any other section of the canalway trail I think. Farther on, the Fairport crew were rowing on the canal. I rode a bit farther ...

... that would have happened in the good 'ol US of A.
Big bathrooms. Even the most "luxurious" place we stayed (in Alba) had a relatively small shower. I can't wait to shave my legs in comfort again.
Free bathrooms. I should have had a line item in the budget for paying for bathrooms in Italy. Some places charged as much as 1.50 Euro just to use the restroom (I'm looking at you, Venice). Alba and the surrounding area was the ONLY area where there was ...

... was 17 (13 years ago!!?!) I went to France with a high school French Club group. None of this technology existed. We wandered around cities like Chamonix and Paris without a map. Some of my favorite memories of that trip came from walking through alleys with friends, getting lost, and finding adorable restaurants. Some of our best discoveries were when we went off plan and decided to check out little shops and bookstores along the ...
