... bread rolls. And a spritz. (Made with prosseco (sparkling wine) Apple juice and water). Bellissimo! What a magical spot to have lunch, out on the balcony. Lake and mountain views. Beautiful! After lunch I walk through the hotel's gardens. Beautiful again! Back to Varenna for a spot of last minute shopping (bought some prints of the area) and a huge gelato. Back to my room to pack up. ... That seems a bit odd. Not sure where the sand would come from. Probably just my eyes. We pass through lots of little villages which are very agricultural. It's so much more satisfying going by train than flying. It's not a cheap way to travel though. A Eurail pass would be the way to go if you're moving around a lot. The trains in Italy have been pretty good actually. I'm a little surprised. Although they're not suitcase friendly. They're not flat ...
