... Can't see much from this hotel, but tomorrow we shall Romeo and Juliet to our hearts content.

Epilogue: Connor was just watching tv and there on the screen, coming to us live from Milan, is a huge open air rock concert. Right in front of the Duomo. That explains all the sound equipment we saw in the cathedral today - we had just through they got big crowds there for mass. Ahh the feeling of waking up with no alarm, nothing planned and nowhere to be.

I had stupidly booked a walking tour and visit to the last supper for 2.30pm that day (I had thought I'd booked it for the 31st, not the 30th!) so I missioned to the metro to find my hostel. My hostel was so far from the metro stop though. I had to walk in stinking hot sun with my heavy backpack and all my other **** for about 1.5km which doesn't seem like much, but ...

... lake to Villa Carlotta, which welcomed tourists to explore the beautiful gardens. Then we could take the fast ferry back to Como. Armed with this plan, we decided to make use of the extended daylight hours and take a short stroll to the Funicular which we could see gliding up the hill to what promised to be wonderful views. We arrived just in time to catch it, so found a seat quickly and got ready for the slow trip uphill. It was a beautiful clear afternoon and ...
