There are paintings of each Sultan's family tree within the Palace Museum, or Kraton as it's called, and these are quite literally trees with fruit to mark each boy and leaves ...

Well, today was the day! We got up at 3am because we were being picked up at 4am by the driver to take us to BuNeti's home (our dance instructor). We got to BuNeti's around 415 and started the hair and makeup process right away! They CAKE that stuff on! She was already all made up by the time we got there and the foundation makes her appear quite a bit whiter than she is...but it definitely gave me some extra colour! I was the first to get my makeup ...

We made it back to Solo on Wednesday night and returned to work at the clinic for Thursday and Friday. Because Saturday was Indonesian Independence Day, the clinic was closed again so we didn't have to work! Since the end-of-Ramadan holiday celebrations and the upcoming Independence Day, Thursday and Friday were both slooowww days at the clinic. Since we didn't have to work Saturday morning, we decided Friday night would be a good time to do the Mt. Merbabu night climb...mostly ...

... the Affandi museum 6km east of the centre it required some heavy bargaining with a becak driver who initially assured me it would only take 5 minutes because I had said I don't want a becak as the ride would be too long. Ok I said if its only 5 minutes then I shouldn't pay more than 20k right? Suddenly the time estimate exploded to many times what he'd said but I ended up paying 50k both ways including him waiting for me at the museum. The ride was, lets say interesting. ...
