This is a charming and delightful hotel. It retains its historical character, with modern standards of service. Beautiful roses in the room, too. Surely the only place to stay in Gdansk. And we loved the Night Porter!'

We were heartened by the welcome and the hospitality offered by the Sycz family who opened their home to us over the next fortnight. I think this is our longest stay ever apart from with immediate family! They clearly made us too comfortable.

Then out to the canal where a beautiful old galleon was giving rides to tourists. Another street full of Amber hawkers, this of course the centre of the amber trade. Returned to the city later for dinner. A very good pasta in a busy brewery restaurant. And then a very good sleep in our Villa ...

The Bulgarians drive fast, overtake in the dark on sharp bends, and don’t seem to follow many conventional road rules. Eventually we find somewhere suitable to stop, in a little place called Bansko.

The next day we drive to Sofia. It’s not a huge drive, but there’s been ...

          Hmmmmm where to start?
I was riding towards Gdansk, it was a nice day, the roads were good.
          Then this odd motorbike overtook.
I looked, as bikers do we waved, and then later on I caught up with him. I will say this shouldn't of happened because he knew this road and the traffic well, this I found out later.

He came past me tapping his tank, ...
