This is a charming and delightful hotel. It retains its historical character, with modern standards of service. Beautiful roses in the room, too. Surely the only place to stay in Gdansk. And we loved the Night Porter!'

Another warm, beautiful day. Today we joined a group and went to Oliwa Cathedral located on the grounds of an old Cistercian monastery dating back to the 13th century. Now this is when my weekend changed.
He came past me tapping his tank, ...
Difficult arrival due to strong winds. Two tugs were employed to help push us into place. Really looking forward to looking around this town. But now, the breakfast buffet is calling. More later. The shuttle bus dropped us a 5 minute walk from the old town, which when revealed was amazing. For a city that saw the first shots of WW2 fired and then completely destroyed, the resurrection of this place is amazing. The buildings are ...
... some of the many standing stones we’ve seen around Europe, or some of the ancient cities that mostly lay in rubble now you seriously wonder if they didn’t have better methods of construction than we do now. After 5000 years or so it’s hard to say just how well finished the rocks in stone henge might have been, after all they have been out in the weather for all that time, through a couple of mini ice ages and ice can crack rock apart very ...
