... for the vegans and a sausage sauce for us...I ate the veggies, too. It was a fabulous meal. Taylor looked up eggplant prep and had it all ready to sauté when we came home... We're having a house guest tonight...Christian's former room-mate, AJ will be in town for a few nights and CnT are off at the train station to collect him right now. ... the largest brick dome in the world and the church itself is one of the largest in Italy. The whole cathedral complex including the Baptistery and Giotto's Campanile (the bell tower) are Unesco sites as well. You can climb up to the top of the tower via 414 steps and get a spectacular view, however as the cue was huge we didn't bother. There is so much detailing to the building it's amazing, there are many hexagonal panels, also some lozenges, and statues ...

... loved it! The second level was a dance club which was a lot of fun too!
The next morning we toured the Duomo and climbed all the way to the top (over 460 steps!). It.was.so.hot! I am so thankful we had nice weather but wearing pants (you have to wear pants and a shirt that covers your shoulders to be able to get into the churches) was such a drag. The view was totally worth all the dark tunneled, spiraled stair cases and the anxiety of being trapped ...
