Meeting my new family

... his life. Following that nightmare, we met up with the truck and the rest of the group. The ratio ended up being 6 girls to 17 guys. Good ratio ;)

We arrived very late in Gibraltar so we were unable to see the city and were immediately escorted to the stores to buy last minute items and summer and Gavin picked up our bulk food supply. To our wonder and amazement we discovered some amazing Spanish wine for only 1 EURO!!! Needless to say there ...

Where the Bullfight Was Born

... I saw a bullfight my first week here and it really wasn't my cup of tea, but it was interesting to be where all the action takes place. I then proceeded to go exploring on my own, which I actually do quite frequently. I love people but I find I really enjoy some things better when I make my own experience not surrounded by what everyone else wants to do. I started by going down into the Ronda Gorge, which literally looks like a city built on a cliff. It is just ...

Day 2 - Gibraltar - Gibraltar Apes

... turned around and pointed his bum up at us... hahaha charming. The little babies were mischievous little buggars but sooo cute. Running around chasing each other, jumping onto wires and hanging upside down, hugging and fighting each other until their mum came along and gave them a whack across the head sending them flying. Hahahaaa Cable car back down we ran into some of the others so headed for a pint before ...

The Rock

... their cannons from within. This made them invincible because the enemy could not attack them for they where inside the rock. There was also a large community of monkeys living in the trees on the rock and we all found these most entertaining. Although we are enjoying the English speaking town it is frightfully expensive when converting Aussie Dollars to Pounds, so we must keep our visit brief. Perhaps we will return briefly on our way out of the Med.

Dia Uno

... frozen) adobo with them...hehe!! Filipinos crack me up! Well they wanted to make sure that they can get in with the adobo or we may have to check it in for them. Lisette told them to go through the gate and not wait for us since traffic was pretty bad. We finally get to the airport with 1.5hrs until we depart. We get to our gate and I see my dad's friends on this trip. I ...

Monkeys!!!!!

... peanuts (and probably sees them every day) so he has them completely under control. They will do whatever he tells them to. The natives really love the monkeys, there is a veterinarian that lives there that does regular checkups on them to make sure they are all in good health. The people of Gibraltar say that when the monkeys disappear from Gibraltar , the British will have to leave too. Some people in my study abroad group wanted to get pictures of ...

Tarifa - kite surfing around The Rock

... managed a couple of lessons in my few days here. Probably for the best anyway, it's easier to type when you haven't had your arms ripped out of their sockets, which looks like a very real threat indeed in the gusting winds. I stuck to spectating and beer drinking, both sensible past-times in this climate, but cheers to ...

Algeciras and on to Gibraltar

... to the Gibraltar Museum. It's really surprising to me, but just about everyone walking around on the street speaks Spanish. We even got an ice cream cone from McDonald's and the woman couldn't speak any English. It seems like for all the pride the British have in holding Gibraltar, none of them really want to live there. No wonder they opened the border to Spanish workers in 1985. That border guard was a true representative of his mini-country.
