Băile Herculane, Caraş-Severin, Romania rouademunte... the roads are much better and the people are as well frıendlier, but much less can speak English or another language.<br><br>The stretch just before Kazanlak was then a beautiful road that led the way up to 1600 m. Through a thick forest with lots of curves we ended at the top. Here the memories of some communist archıtecture was present. Kind of ımpressive but as well not very appealing<br><br>
Pitesti, Romania siloI was asked by the OCP, the person who is in charge of the whole summer school program, to be the Chair of the Closing Plenary. I was so happy to have the last moment with the kids and being up in front of the students. I think I have a certain way with the kids. I see them laughing and smiling. They actually laugh at my jokes, which I like, and maybe I do have a good sense of humor. I wanted to say some words to them for inspiration and motivation. I truly believe ...
Pitesti, Romania queenythelu... Each country also had to have a presentation of some sort in the middle of the mall. I had a video of pictures of the USA with Californiacation playing in the background. It was nice because I was explaining the pictures as it moved along. They laughed and clapped for what I said. I had no idea what was so funny. Maybe the people at the mall were thinking that I was putting on the show. You know...they see this Asian girl with a baseball hat and two black stripes ...
Pitesti, Romania queenytheluI prepared for the last training for AIESEC Pitesti Summer School and it was bittersweet...=(<br>I felt really happy that I don't have to think of all the icebreakers for each day and prepare the outlines for each training, but it was all for the kids. Well, I say kids, but they are really just a few years younger than I am. Anyway, it was about Country Ambassadorship, we pretended that I was a foreign person ...
Pitesti, Romania queenythelu... It was fun. <br><br>At the swimming pool, there is always this man who sells corn. With this corn you have salt to put on it and it is really good. He walks around holding a tray of corn and wearing a traditional Romanian hat. He is about 60 years old and one tooth that is half black on the side of his mouth with dirty finger nails and open cuts all over his hands, but I still buy the corn from him because he is really cool. He speaks ...
Pitesti, Romania queenythelu... of town, including our hotel restaurant. Craiova Centre has some beautiful buildings and squares. They were holding the Romanian Music Awards in the main square which was pretty deafening so we found a restaurant down the road a bit and after some effort, and the need to drag in an English speaking wedding guest, we ordered a typical Romanian meal, Escalop Zingala, Pork with a spicy sauce and bacon.
Craiova, Romania souter... of our best dinners in Romania here... at El Greco. Tomorrow we will be heading towards Belgrade by driving north to Drobeta-Turnu Severin and Baile Herculane in order to avoid going thorough Bulgaria's northern tip, which we heard can be quite a challenge. We are hoping for better weather so that we can see the Danube Canyon in full force.
Craiova, Romania elgeneraloYesterday I was edging towards the far margins of Romania's tourist map. Now today I seem to have fallen clean off of it. I've come down to the industrial and university town of Craiova, the largest city in Wallachia after Bucharest. While it's historically been an important center of Romanian culture, art and academic tradition, from about the end of World War II onwards, it became more associated with military factories, industry and automotive ...
Craiova, Romania xerius... way, such as random cows and pigs walking along the road, and the cutest thing was a little old lady herding her flock of geese along the side of the road with a stick! There were not many other cars to worry about, as everyone else travelled by horse and cart! When we finally arrived at the first community, we drove up to the school where about eight children and their families were waiting anxiously for our arrival ...
