Tenikwa offered us a safe encounter with the cats of South Africa (African Wild Cats, Caracal, Cheetahs and Leopard). It also allowed us to interact with them, some within their owns enclosures.


And Julie's nurturing gene kicked in with observing the close family ties of Meerkats.

... which is the worlds biggest aviary. It is stunning and might even beat that tea shop in Liverpool as my favourite place ever. We then stood at the front gate and welcomed vistors to monkeyland, and went on a tour round the forest and then fed the monkeys again. There’s a lot of standing around whilst it’s not busy but I can’t even describe how awesome the forest is. So many monkeys just run around and some can even fit through the gate ...

Back to the hike, we recommend to drive down to the park accommodation and start there. Otherwise after the hike to the waterfall, which is a go and back hike, it is quite a way back up to the gate car park.

The hike is beautiful. There are some areas where we needed to climb over rocks, so good shoes are necessary. We saw some girls in flip flops, not quite sure where they got the information of where the waterfall was situated. ...

... find any wound or breaks and all 4 legs worked so we gave her electrolytes and warmed her up hoping it was just shock. By early afternoon we could see she was not getting better and if anything had gone downhill so we took her to the vet who kept her to see if she could help.
