      A cup of coffee and a beautiful walk in the woods set me right. Addie made a new friend, Sunny, and I had a very pleasant chat with Sunny's person. She was doing a brisk power walk, so I got some good exercise in addition to a lively discussion about health care, education and big data. You meet the most interesting people walking the dog.

      Lovely sail in to Newport this am. This is a city I really want to come back to and stay for a few days. So much to see and do! We went for a walk along the famous "Cliff Walk" a public pathway right along the ocean that is open to all and goes right in front of all the famous mansions. We ended our walk with a tour of the Vanderbilt's home, the Breakers. Great audio tour so you could go at your own pace. Reminded me of Downton ...

      ... as by that time the seas were heavy and a force 6 gale was blowing but the performer, Gary Lovini, was excellent. He was a violinist who played lots of popular tunes and he really got the audience going. A very good performance and I shall be keen to go to the next one later in the cruise. The seas continued to be very active as we went to bed and remained so all night. Let's hope the weather tomorrow in Boston is better and we can look forward to a sunny warm ...
