    ... came across several work barges and work boats. They are putting some type of pipeline in the canal and have dredging equipment everywhere. The canal isn't that wide, so when you come across one of these situations you have to be very careful when passing them. They often have cables stretching across the canal to other pieces of equipment.

    We headed toward the locks on the Erie Canal. We first had to lock through 7 locks in Oswego off of Lake Ontario to begin our journey down the Erie Canal.     ... in other state parks, I think it is due to the fact it is a bit of a hike, and the trails…well, they were interesting. The ridge trail for the most part was dry, there were areas, that were tough, and vegetation that looked like poison ivy.
