TANGOLUNDA 22 Huatulco, Pacific Coast, Mexico
... trip. As usual the buses are kept at refrigerator temperatures and my sarong came in handy as a blanket. We arrived in Pochutla at 9 a.m., found a taxi to a recommended hotel and had breakfast on the beach. We changed into swimwear and just soaked up the warm sun on Puerto Angel's Panteon Beach. Panteon is the MExican word for cemetary...We were definitely a little tired from the long bus ride through the very windy mountain roads but being on the ...
Huatulco, Pacific Coast, Mexico ladyandtramp... The big cattle boat catamaran towed a couple of lanchas to transport passengers to their designated restaurants for drinks/lunch - the tonto capitan managed to get the ropes to one wrapped around the prop and sunk it, so there was more to see, for a change, from drunken Mexicans drancing around to "YMCA" and other such numbers! La Crucecita was saved that night by the discovery of a great bar with great beer and wood fired pizza but it was not enough to keep me there any longer.
Huatulco, Pacific Coast, Mexico ccchrissie... one of those moments out of a novel- the sun rising, the surf crashing, etc.- any description I could give wouldn't do it justice and would come off as cheesy. The hotel's office didn't open until 8:00, so I curled up an a hammock and slept an amazing, hypnotized sleep. How to describe my accommodations? It's sort of like a tree house, with a 3 bed "dormitory" in it (though I'm the only resident at the moment). Saying that there the room has ...
Zipolite, Oaxaca, Mexico dmwalsh... some almost fluro green chilli sauce in a bottle which we are endeavouring to bring home if we find it! I just had a chocolate crepe which was gorgeous, and fresh fruit juices abound. Very much like South East Asia in regards to food, lifestyle, etc. So nice. Ok, my eye is wandering to the beach so I will be off! Shane says: Zipolite is great. I was apprehensive about coming here because I thought we'd get our stuff stolen, I'd go to jail after being set up when buying a joint ...
Zipolite, Mexico shanemilli... friends, who have their own boat, and found out that fishing had been lousy around there lately, which was a bummer, since that was one of the main reasons for going there in the first place. Although where we were parked at the Hotel Marlin was not very expensive and was convenient, only 2-3 blocks from the harbor and/or beach, and the people were nice, we decided ...
Huatulco, Mexico chictravelers2... chemically enriched cotton wool which is utterly ubiquitous in Mexico) and were making peanut butter sandwiches in the communal area of the hostel, when the owner told us we couldn't eat our own food there as it was a hotel restaurant and we'd be giving out the wrong impression to others (in the empty hostel at 11am), but when we tried to eat there during the supposed opening times, we were told we'd have to go out and eat elsewhere as they were closed. The town ...
Puerto Ángel, Mexico jacobandkirsty... beaten track. This turned out to be a blessing. We just followed our gps and found our way out. We are definitley putting our moisture and odor absorbing garments to the ultimate test. Actually, everything is getting used to it's max. It feels like we're 2 years old, learning everything for the first time. Like, how do you say that? What's that ...
Huatulco, Mexico guruzers¡Buenos Días! Well, life feels pretty normal right now. Weird, considering the fact that I´m living in another country...I just turned in my composición final (final essay) for the class and my final test is Monday. After that I get to see El Día de Los Muertos and all of the traditions that go along with it- the altars for deceased family members with food and flowers, beautifully decorated gravestones and who knows what else! I´m so excited to see it ...
Oaxaca, Mexico spragk... an English guy from Kendal who told us the cheapest place to eat and we headed out ot try the 3 peso tacos. (thats 15p). We had 4 each which was yummy and then headed to bed. We were knackered cos of the heat so retired to our private dorm room. The next day we got up leasurely and went to a cute litle Italian for breakfast. It was cheap, had lovely bread, great coffee and freshly squeezed juice. Then it was time for ...
Puerto Escondido, Mexico neilandamy... Now many have moved there and opened hotels and restaurants. I was hestitant to go to an Italian place because I was in Mexico. In Zipolite, however, I had the best pizza I have ever had in my life. You think I'm kidding, don't you? Have you been to Zipolite? Have you had the excellent crispy pizza baked in a stone oven so delicious your tongue protests that it is not worthy? I didn't think so. I am looking more and more like a hippy as my clothes get sunbleached and salt stained and my ...
