... lead me to a beautiful bedroom with 13 foot ceilings. My room was very cosy and warm although much of the house was struggling to keep its' warmth. They are not used to such cold here.

On my first day I walked (30 minutes) to the French Market which is on the Mississippi River in a corner of the French Quarter. The day just reached 10 degrees but there were plenty of tourists on the streets and in the countless shops. I was not ...

... up the atmosphere before heading home. That night however we both got ill. Wade was lucky he only had a sore neck, head and felt nauseous. I had all of that but was also violently ill. It was terrible, it was like there was some sort of homemade alcohol in the drink (thank god for the toilet in our room), to make matters worse we only had bunks and seeing I am the smallest I was on the top bunk and it really wasn’t fun. ... but charming. The part I don’t care for is the toilet that runs constantly and the décor itself seems out dated. I would love to see a more modern twist on the room reflective of the great care that they took in the lobby. The room we are in (508) has a very tiny window in the alcove and lets little light into the room so it is quite dark and gloomy. I think the yellow/gold/olive tones in the room darken it even more. The bed is OK. Not soft but ...

Our next stop was the Crescent City, New Orleans, Louisiana. While planning this trip there were two side locations I needed to visit on the way to my main destination – West Monroe, LA and Mobile, AL. I figured while I was heading in this direction we would plan New Orleans into the itinerary and consider it an inexpensive adventure as well as a place to lay our head. The best map encouraged a route through Mississippi and down into the southern bayou of ...
