Our last few days in Skiathos we spent exploring more of their beaches and monasteries. The town is a very quaint place with a wonderful harbor and lots of cafes for relaxing. On Tuesday we decided to rent an ATV to really see the island. A guy at the resort told us about the trails that cover the island and the many Monasteries that are here to visit, so we decide the best way to see them was by ATV. We picked up the ATV in the town of Skiathos from a place that is owned by a Greek guy who has a Masters in Economics from Chicago...very interesting.

Sunday we took a boat tour around the island, 7 hours with multiple stops and secluded beaches for swimming. The water is still quite cold so only the hardy swim...obviously not us! The boat was filled with many Britts and American students on semester abroad. The scenery was incredible, many caves, rock arches and distant islands. ** What has made this last comment so hilarious is that a British tourist has just walked into the computer room, cigarette clamped into the side of his mouth, and told me "Bloody fast typist, you are!"

Children seem to have fun with the waves, but there are not many people swimming. Most of them are either sunbathing or relaxing at one of the many café restaurants…..besides in a week from today schools open and from now on less and less people will be out on the beaches.

For many, summer is over. I am happy that it is not over for us yet !
