Adventures of Russell!
Adventures of Russell features the first international trip for a little wombat who decided to come with us. The little guy took it all in stride despite the stress of the person holding him, namely me! Everything went smoothly through airport check in and getting on the plane. There was a tense moment when a stewardess saw him and got a fright at …
We love Oman
Thursday 2nd October 2003 Sydney-Singapore Spent till nearly midnight on Saturday painting the new kitchen at Balmain, which is now finished, except for few small details, and all Sunday packing away all the tools etc that had accumulated in the loungeroom and balcony while they'd been used to build the kitchen. Had a few people around at 3pm for …

TravelPod Member ReviewsPARKROYAL on Beach Road Singapore
I booked a package at the PARKROYAL on Beach Road, including a Massage, Breakfast each morning and the room. The room was fantastic, very clean and a huge bed, the bathrooms could have been better but was more than adequate and again very clean.
I very much enjoyed my stay and plan to go back again. The staff were very friendly and helped in any way they could. Great breakfast spread.
The best massage I ever had.

Historical Traveler Reviews PARKROYAL on Beach Road Singapore
Excellent choice
My wife and I stayed at Park Royal from 10-8-06 to 12-8-06, for our honeymoon as part of the Singapore stopover deal.
LOCATION:
1) in Arab area, in a walking distance from Bugis MRT and Suntec Sity Center.
2) quiet.
3) Nice view from the swimming pool
ROOMS: large, well decorated and functioned.
LOBBY: Quite nice with well trained and friendly personel.
SERVICE: Very good.
STAFF: Friendly.
COMMENTS:
If you want to save some money and be well treated, this is an excellent choice.
Good comfortable and affordable hotel
Not in a great location but in terms of price / value this was a great choice. Nice pool/spa complex and rooms on "exec" level were very comfortable.
Good clean hotel
We have just returned from Singapore and stayed at the Plaza Parkroyal with our children in two connecting rooms. The rooms were clean and a reasonable size. A buffet breakfast was included each morning. The pool area is lovely and there are plenty of poolside lounges. The hotel is conveniently located - each morning there were plenty of taxis outside (taxis were very cheap compared to Australia and an easy way to get anywhere) - in the afternoon there would be a 5-10 minute wait for a taxi.
The staff were all friendly and nice. We were all given a free drink voucher to use at happy hour in the downstairs bar when we checked in.
We did ask if we would have one of rooms for an extra 1/2 hour on the day we were checking out (we had a 4pm checkout time but were catching a late flight) but were told we could not unless we paid extra.
Brilliant hotel
We booked the Plaza Parkroyal as part of the Singapore stopover deal. It was in one of the cheaper ranges of hotels, so were expecting something 3 star or so, but this exceeded all expectations. It was fantastic. From the start the staff were really helpful. We arrived early in the morning so of course our room wasn't ready, but they gave us a key to a hospitality room where we could relax, watch tv or have a shower (including free tea/coffee and fruit) Then at 9.30am they had our rooms ready. The rooms were spacious, with great bathrooms. The pool area was brilliant - a huge pool, with kids pool and spa. If I'd stayed longer I would have taken advantage of the day spa facilities there. The staff were really helpful, especially the tour desk lady. The only thing we didn't do was eat at the hotel because the prices were a bit steep for us, but we could walk 3 blocks to Bugis Junction shopping centre and eat there really well. Would definitely stay there again!
A wonderful hotel!
I have been to singapore over 30 times now and have been most pleased with the plaza parkroyal. In it's class this hotel is unbeatable. The rooms are very clean, the pool area is certainly the best out of all the hotels i have stayed and the staff are super friendly. If you have a choice between hotels like the furama, golden landmark, new park etc pls stay at the plaza. It outclasses those hotels anyday. It is certainly my fav hotel in singapore and since i have discovered it 5 trips ago i wil no longer stay elsewhere. Well done plaza!
Very Well managed clean Hotel
It is a great hotel especially after the refurbishment. We stayed 3 nights and noticed how clean everything was. People are very friendly and they go out of their way to help. You pay 4 star rates but get 5 star service.
Great breakfast at this Hotel
We stayed here with our daughter for 10 days & were really happy with this hotel.
Very nice reception area, which I see has been upgraded to look even more luxurious. They provide a good shuttle to local Malls at sensible times free to guests.
We loved exploring the area around here, especially arab St and Bugis Junction.
Pool was excellent as was the gym & Spa.
I would have loved to have stayed here agin but it was booked out for one night during our recent stay so had to stay elsewhere.
Very Happy with Plaza
Very pleased with this *** hotel. Outstanding compared to *** here in Australia. We had two interconnecting rooms (2 adults and 3 children). The rooms were very clean and newly refurbished however smallish (but who spends time in the room? Maybe on a honeymoon - in that case I would suggest something a little more luxurious. The staff friendly and helpful, food and bars good (with a decent Happy Hour) but the most fantastic aspect was the 25 metre swimming pool and garden area quite massive compared to other city hotels. The pool has a childrens area and it is so large that you can relax knowing they are not annoying the other guests. The gym was very well equipped and there is also a Spa. Only 5 mins walk to Bugis MRT. $5 ride to Orchard road in a taxi. Bugis Junction has a large Japanese department store Seiyu plus plenty of smaller stores and markets. 5 mins walk to Suntec city shopping centre and convention centre. All major stores there as well. There is a major local bus stop outside hotel, we didn't have time to check it out but I'm sure it can take you to most places you want to go. In the immediate area there were good places to eat and an interesting part of the city (Arab Street) with its middle eastern character. We weren't expecting much for the price we paid S$120 per room/night including taxes and b/fast so we were very happy with our choice.
Nice for Stopover
Located on Beach Road in the Muslim District, near the Baghdad Moschee. Room was nice, not many good TV channels though. But I had a Singpore Airlines Stopover deal and payed 30 USD for a night, stayed 4 nights. Pool is Balinese style and wonderful! The Chinese restaurant downstairs (very expensive) is the best in the city!
Good stopover hotel
Stayed here recently as part of an outward stopover on our way to New Zealand. Room was clean, very plain and very big, but air conditioning cold and couldn't seem to control it properly. No view, but we were only there for one night. Toiletries supplied. Location was O.K. as we were within walking distance to the pleasant Bugis shopping mall/MRT area. The mall next to the hotel seemed rather more old fashioned. For all other areas and attractions, taxis were very cheap and plentiful.
Didn't eat at the hotel so I can't comment on the food, but the swimming pool / spa area was lovely, (better than the higher star hotel we stayed in for our return stopover) and was the perfect place to relax after a days sightseeing. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Our hotel was included as part of our flight, but I understand the rates are very reasonable and offer value for money. Would stay there again if I secured a good rate.
