... in a backpackers, a double room rather than a dorm. Then a walk down to the pier to catch a ferry to the islands. By 11 we are on the ferry off for a day of snorkelling. We have chosen to do 2 of the islands. The first is Manukan, lots and lots of beautiful fish and quite nice soft corals. After a couple of hours we meet up with the ferry again ...

Day 57. We arrived at the hospital for morning handover to find an empty room, much to our confusion. The answer to our befuddlement was found in the CME; a biweekly, interdepartmental, multidisciplinary conference of sorts. We settled into the third row and then promptly switched off. The first of the talks (all spoken in Malay ergo utterly incomprehensible) was from the physiotherapy department and appeared to be a run through of the safe ways for ...

... to the starting point and a bus back to Kota Kinabalu.
Before climbing Kinabalu we read a few articles/blogs about whether or not we were in good enough shape. We had already been travelling for 6 weeks, and the gym had not really factored into our itinerary. After climbing Kinabalu I will say this: anyone who is active CAN climb Kinabalu. But only people who are in very good shape will actually enjoy the climb. The second day ...
