Our next stop was the Steen, with its statue of Antwerp's mischievous imp Lange Wapper out front (though my impression of it was a bit cruder than that). We wanted to hit the old printing house and museum, but got there too close to closing to make it worth paying to go in, so we contented ourselves with poking around the gift shop.

Leaving Mediterranean Europe today for the frozen North! After some breaking breakkie we headed to the airport for our flight to Brussels. On arriving, we only had a short wait before we could check in and we breezed through security. Once we got through to screens on the other side, unfortunately our flight had been delayed. To cut a long story short, the flight was delayed for just over an hour due to a power failure in Paris - which is where our plane came ...

We were handed a Westermalle trappist, which in its own right is a great beer but not what we were asking for. Drinking the Westermalle we sipped and pondered. We had been pointed down the alley way, maybe there was another bar further in. I went out on a search and located another bar. After finishing up we headed in ...

          ... a good thing,
as looking out the window we could see the wings were covered in ice. Not really conducive to safe flight! However they had a solution to this - we went
through a plane wash on our way to take off - yep trucks came out with big
sprays on them and washed the wings and tail down with antifreeze, definitely
not something we need to worry about in Australia!
