    ... the area south of Stowe and found the Von Trapp family lodge from where they moved to the USA from Austria. The hills were alive with the sound of our hire car struggling up the steep, bendy road that led to the lodge, which is now being used as a ski resort lodge.     Mallett's Bay is located on the 40 mile Island Line Trail. We biked about 12 miles of this beautiful, well maintained trail that includes waterfront and parks which connects Burlington to South Hero Island. A large portion of this trail is a former Rutland Railroad railbed (stopped running in the 1960s) which includes a very long causeway across Malletts Bay.     It was raining, so we decided to head on out of New York and go to Vermont.
    We headed for Lake Champlain and the ferry.
