      ... pedestals about 5 feet high with a 3 x 3 foot metal basket at the top. Some people just put their trash in these (juice containers, yogurt containers, cardboard etc, others recycle grocery shopping bags in neat little bundles). Early in the morning the scavengers come through to look for items that can be recycled or repurposed. By the time the garbage people come by, there is very little left in the baskets.
