West of Revelstoke is the divide between the Columbia and Thompson Rivers, so we were traveling along the Thompson River today. The scenery along this leg of our trip was lush and green, but less forested than along the Columbia. It got warmer today, thank goodness. I was glad to get rid of my fleece pants and long-sleeved shirt.

We’ve past Black Canyon where the rapids are really whirling around. Must be the flood water passing through. We have even spotted some deer (just like bambi – very cute). Just went through a 'Ghost Town’ called Walhachin. It was a town established before WW1 but after 1914 most of the English settlers who had come to the town returned to England after the War and there are now only 34 residents of the town. ...
... a laundry. I gave Scott's Inn a call and they had a laundry, so we booked in here for the night again.
We drove straight here after booking in online and checked in at about 5pm. We got the key for the laundry and went and put on a load of clothes.

... possible to air out the "Nanna dying" stench in a couple of hours.....NEGATIVE! Apart from that I was REALLY surprised that this 4-5 start accommodation consisted of a sagging bed, cracked old tiled bathroom that looked overdue for replacement....say in the 1980's even, to top it all off stinky old curtains and carpets.....to top it all off, there was the last persons old food in the fridge....ok it wasn't Nanna's from the 1920's but still!!! ... Sandman Hotel Kamloops has its own climate with very dry hot summers.
A drive around the town revealed some quite pretty residential streets, although with so much land available in this vast country it's hard to understand why the houses are squashed together with small gardens. But the downtown is disappointing, with the cheap and ugly single storey shopping mall, looking the same as Richmond.
