... you are tasting in an incredibly thick French accent! We had the chance to taste the 2006 Vintage Moet as well as the 2006 Rose. Of course the traditional champagne was excellent but we were both very surprised by the Rose. Incorrectly we had both assumed that because of the pink color roses were always much sweeter but this one was very dry with an excellent flavor and it was actually our favorite of the two. ... got great views of the Scaliger castle and the Grottoes of Catullus (ancient Roman ruins). Afterwards we walked through the Sirmione township for a closer look at the castle, and also the gelateria.

After it was all said & done, we jumped back in the car and drove the 250+ km to Turin, where we were treated to some homemade Saffron Risotto, chicken and some more gelato to top it all off.

... Ristorante da Gemma in the village of Roddino, where we were treated to a Piemonte banquet, sampling the traditional dishes of the region. We started with some salami and assorted breads, followed by egg salad, veal, carne cruda (raw beef mince - surprisingly good!), taglialini, agnolotti, rabbit & goat.
