... Jeeptour durch die Dünen von Putú schloss sich noch am selben Nachmittag an, bevor es 3 ½ Stunden mit der einzigen Schmalspurbahn aus den 1960ziger Jahren nach Talca zurückging. Mit einer Höchstgeschwindigkeit von 44 hm/h schlängelte sich der Zug entlang des Rio Maule die 88km zurück, ein Erlebnis, welches ich aufgrund der Zugenge sowie der Fahrtdauer nicht zwingend ein zweites Mal zu unternehmen wünsche.

Tour 1: Rainbow Waterfalls. Eine leichte Trekking Tour, aber als belohnung die Aussicht auf 3 wundervolle Wasserfaelle, die im Sonnenlicht riesige Regenboegen in die Gischt zauberten. Wir schwammen in einem kleinen Becken, 3 meter vor dem Punkt, an dem das Wasser hinabstuerzte. Mittagessen assen wir dann an einem noch groesseren Wasserfall, direkt neben dem Wasser-sturz und dem Tuerkis farbenen Wasser.

After we had got settled we went to a local fiesta that was happening further down the valley. The valley has about 34 families living there. There is no electricity and the they often get snowed in for the winter. It was about as rural as you can get in Chile and the families living in the valley must be entirely self sufficient. ... Tonight we head West for Tahiti, which will take eight days. Our only sight of land will be as we sail by Easter Island and Pitcairn. This will give us time to relax and enjoy shipboard activities. We have already done a lot of eating, reading, three mile walks round the deck, dancing classes, eating, theatre shows, cinema visits, and eating.
