... museum but the number of wax figures and scenes created throughout the museum really gave me the impression of walking back in time to when Dubai was a small shipping port along the sea. The museum put some great detail into the scenes, complete with songs and sounds to enhance the expeirence. It only took about an hour to get through the museum, and I still had much of the day ahead of me before my 9pm flight. Unfortunately with all the cafes ...

... itself. It's the longest single run elevator. It spans 140 floors. The "At the Top" deck is at the 124th floor however, a lousy 452 meters high (The height of the Empire State Building including the antenna is 381 meters). Lots of people - women all dressed completely in black with just slits shining for their eyes - they are from Kuwiait and the the of course in white. Women have to suffer. It's so hot for them the poor people. The workers all save money and send part of their salaries home to help their families. Our kids have it very ...

... country. All so that I could just collect my bag and check in for my flight to the states. I was assured this wouldn't be an issue but it was as usual. I'm currently taking the shuttle to departures where I'll board a United flight to Washington DC via, yes, Dubai. United wanted to charge me upwards of 600 dollars to simply take the Dubai portion of the flight. It's crazy but that's US airlines for ya. So I'm hot and already irritated and I've barely started this travel ...
